NorCal Volunteers Appreciation & Mixer Pool Party A Blast
August 12, 2006
On a warm beautiful sunny day in Silicon Valley, IIM USA Inc. NorCal volunteers and their families met as strangers in the afternoon and left as intimate friends late into the night.
At about 4 pm PST, people started trickling in. By 5 pm, the atmosphere was thick with tinkling laughter, hearty guffaws, savoury appetizers, and animated conversation. The ice-breaker was "families" - a game that formed 2 families - the Cows and the Goats whose form of communication was "moooo" and "baaaa". Adult and child alike got into the competitive spirit. Being land animals did not stop the Cows and the Goats from getting into the pool to play a competitive "telematch style" amphibious game. The 2 teams were well matched and ended up with a draw. A tie-breaker became necessary which the Goats won…baaaa…
After a delicious dinner, the group embarked into spirited karaoke and Bollywood dancing. It was a night of discovery of talents. Dessert was made exciting by dumb charades - the Cows had their revenge as they had a solid win over the Goats…moooo…
And as the half moon rose higher into the heavens, the close-knit volunteer family members reluctantly left one by one - waiting impatiently for next year's mixer event.
